The Thomasville Genealogical Library

Thomasville, Georgia

The Thomasville Genealogical Library moved from the old Thomasville Post Office Building in downtown Thomasville, to it's new location on the Campus of Thomas University.  Raymond C. Finger Architects, LLC renovated and designed an addition to the old Fine Arts Building to create this 3808 sf new facility for the Genealogical Library.  This new facility contains open stacks, a computer and microform room, non-circulation archives, a reading room and supporting office spaces.  Existing stacks, furniture and even the pendant light fixtures were reused and incorporated into the new space.  The design intent was to transform the existing building into a traditional style that would complement and extend the historic quadrangle of Thomas University's Campus.
